If you have had a boundary survey performed on your personal property, there are a few resources you can try before you hire a company to re-survey your property. Try contacting one of these sources:
- Surveying Company – Reach out to the survey company who performed your original survey and request to obtain a copy. If you don’t remember who performed the survey, you can try calling all of the survey company’s in your local area, but keep in mind that this can be time consuming and there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to find the right company.
- Your REALTOR® – If you had a survey completed in the conjunction with the purchase of a property, your REALTOR® may have a copy of the survey in their backed up files.
- Title Company or Loan Officer/Mortgage Lender – If you had a survey completed in conjunction with the purchase of a property, the title company or your loan officer may have a copy of the survey in their backed up records as well.
Other options may include recourses at your local municipality or county, such as the planning and zoning department or the recorder of deeds office.
Your last resort is to hire a company and have your property re-surveyed.
